- Our Story -

Nestled in the small, historic town of Gibson, North Carolina is the area’s best kept secret! What started as just a catering business in 2012 has evolved into much more! Southernway Catering was a dream of Ray Herring’s, our owner. That dream was a long and hard road with many obstacles but God has led us to where we are now! We purchased our current establishment in October 2017 and open up November 21, 2017, offering breakfast, lunch, and full catering service for any and all events. We have serviced events serving up to 2500 in one day! With the pandemic of 2020 we added “Southern Cuts”, a hometown butcher shop! We started with just fresh ground beef because customers said they couldn’t find it in any of the local grocery stores and our supplier had plenty. We now offer the best hand-cut steaks and pork chops around, with ribs, fresh pork sausage, and much more! Our premium products will be better for you in many ways and we are local! Our business thrives on having happy customers! Your satisfaction is our top priority! Remember…“There’s no better way than The Southernway”!

“Let Jesus satisfy your soul & let us satisfy your hunger”

My name is Ray Herring and I am the owner of The Southernway! Southernway Catering was established in 2012, born of my love for cooking and having others to enjoy my food! As a full-time wireless sales specialist at that time, it was difficult to add anything else to my plate, but I pushed through with the help of my family and staff! By the summer of 2016 I was self-employed full-time! God has been so good! My goal is that every customer be 100% satisfied. I work very hard to provide premium products and services at a very reasonable price! Our meats are second to none! I am blessed and honored to be the owner and I am always available to our customers! Thank you all for your support!

Here at The Southernway, we operate as a family and so we’d like to introduce our family to you! The backbone of our family is Ray’s parents, Mr. Jim and Mrs. Ruth. At the time of this picture (in mid 2020) Mr. Jim had just turned 90 years old and Mrs. Ruth was 83 years old. Prior to the Covid pandemic, Mrs. Ruth was at the restaurant every day waiting tables, cooking, checking out customers and much more! Mr. Jim was always hanging around speaking with the locals. We miss having them around during our day to day operations but we continue to offer service that we know makes them proud! Ray, his wife Chaty, and their family work hard to maintain the best family oriented business around! Our family’s goal is for you to feel like family as well! Without you there would be no us!
